Jan Dungel - Chat, Screening und Kunstworkshop

Jan Dungel graduated in Biology (Masaryk‘s Univerzity, Brno), but after a short period in scientific institutions such as Academy of Sciences decided for a career of the free-lance artist. Collaborates for example with theatres, musicians, architects and also produces commercial design. He also illustrates children‘s stories, adult books, magazines but in paintings concentrates primarily on themes from nature and pieces for scientific illustrations. Has so far produced illustrations for about fifty publications which have been published not only in Czech republic, but also in Germany, Poland, Britain, Holland, France, Hungary, Venezuela, Colombia and elsewhere. The book entitled “Do we Behave Like Animals?” accompanied by his illustrations was awarded in 1993 the prize of the Most Beautiful Book of the year 1992 jointly by Czech Ministry of Culture an National Heritage of Letters. He exhibited his free paintings in many group and solo exhibitions in the Czech republic and abroad.

Since 1992 has been regularly visiting South America where he devotes his time to paintings of animals and plants in their natural habitat. The work in this natural environment is unique for the emphasis on authenticity and exact documentary quality.
